Aims and Scope

“Etnografia Nowa” serves as the Museum’s voice within the broad field of issues explored by contemporary humanities and social sciences, particularly ethnology and cultural anthropology, folklore studies, museology, and the history of these disciplines. The journal provides a platform for cultural institutions and museum professionals to engage in current academic debates while simultaneously grounding theoretical discussions in the everyday practice of cultural institutions. For this reason, the journal publishes both peer-reviewed scholarly articles and descriptive texts devoted to specific cultural projects.

Recognising the polyphony of contemporary humanities and the complexity of knowledge production, we invite contributions from authors representing diverse spheres of academic and cultural work: established scholars and researchers, practitioners, and holders of knowledge not always formally recognised within the Academy: subject specialists, cultural institution staff, and custodians of heritage and memory relating to the topics we explore.

This approach is reflected in the journal’s structure: the first section, dedicated to the issue’s selected theme, presents in-depth, mostly peer-reviewed scholarly articles; the second section presents the Museum’s current activities and addresses additional subjects relevant to our field.
