Melanie Issaka was born in Ghana; she lives and works in London. She is a visual artist and photographer. She examines the issues connected to the complex character of modern identity in which categories of race and gender intersect. Through analogue photography and printworks, she undermines conventional approaches to depictions and (re)presentations. Her work probes the dichotomy of private and public spaces, negotiating visibility while embracing materiality to assert physical presence and explore the depths of selfhood.
