ABOUT EVENT

„Artists on Afrotopias. Rethinking contemporary art” is a series of online lectures on contemporary art movements, whose goal is to equip audiences with historical context and a framework for understanding the exhibition. The first talk will be given by Ayomide Tejuoso (Plantation), author of My Sin Is Blue (2021-2022) and Pink Bullets. Black Blood (2023), projects that are partly presented in „Afrotopias” exhibition.

HOST

Ayomide Tejuoso (Plantation) is a Nigerian-British artist based in Geneva and London. Working at the intersection of photography, film and installation, her artistic practice weaves wild visual narratives of Black experiences and expressions. Her projects have received numerous accolades and awards, and her work has been presented in prestigious cultural institutions in Europe and West Africa, including PhotoVogue Festival 2021, Foam Talent 2021, Photo Vogue Voice Residency 2022, PhMuseum Women’s Grant Shortlist 2022, Getxophoto Festival Shortlist 2022, OSCAM Amsterdam, Rele Gallery and Affinity Gallery. She is currently a creative director, working on a visual campaign for PhotoVogue Festival, and writing for TWIST Magazine, New Currency Magazine and PhotoVogue.
