CREATIVE TALES
„Creative Stories” is a series of family events held in the educational space of the temporary exhibition „Afrotopias”. Each meeting will be inspired by a different book selected by the Education Department of PME. These books are written by authors from Africa or other Black communities outside the continent. During the event, we will read fragments of the book together, and then create original art works inspired by elements of its story.
ABOUT THE EVENT
At the second meeting of the series, we will be inspired by the book „Mama’s Sleeping Scarf” by Nigerian author Nwa Grace-James. It tells the story of a young girl named Chino, who plays with her mother’s sleeping scarf. It’s a beautiful tale about the relationship between a mother and her daughter and the celebration of small moments that make up a perfect day. The story will inspire a conversation about what (or rather – who?) makes us feel good and safe.
As part of the art workshop, we will create paper boxes for our precious things.
