CREATIVE TALES

„Creative Stories” is a series of family events held in the educational space of the temporary exhibition „Afrotopias”. Each meeting will be inspired by a different book selected by the Education Department of PME. These books are written by authors from Africa or other Black communities outside the continent. During the event, we will read fragments of the book together, and then create original art works inspired by elements of its story.

ABOUT THE EVENT

At the next meeting in the series, we will be inspired by the book „Hair Love”, written by Matthew A. Cherry and illustrated by Vashti Harrison. It is a story about a captivating relationship between a father and his daughter, as well as about accepting ourselves and how beautifully we are different – in appearance, culture or way of life. During the workshops, we will reflect together on traveling with openness to others and appreciating diversity despite the cultural differences that divide us.

During the artistic part of the workshops, we will make suitcases from cardboard. We will decorate them with a collage full of our interests and personal stories.
